Success! Sixteen new trees in!

On March 14th, somewhere around 60 volunteers came together to plant 16 new trees on 18th Street. The professionalism of Casey Trees impressed everyone and things came together very smoothly. The volunteers had a great time and the community spirit was palpable!

Here are some photos of the event. Thank you, Casey Trees!

Let's Replant Trees in Adams Morgan

We could transform 18th Street NW from this...

Free Tree Campaign for Adams Morgan

Welcome to the Free Trees for Adams Morgan web site!

The Adams Morgan neighborhood in DC boasts a substantial amount of history and vitality. Unfortunately we've lost a significant part of this history and vitality recently. Many lovely old growth trees in Adams Morgan have been cut down in the past 5 years. The trees we lost provided shade for housing and sidewalks, played their part in reducing global warming, and saving on your energy bills. It's time to replace what we have lost so our community can reap the many benefits of trees.

We have an opportunity to replace the trees for free! The Casey Tree Foundation solicits applications two times a year for free neighborhood tree plantings. The next application is due in Fall 2008. We just need to submit an application for a minimum of a dozen trees to be planted.

We hope you'll help out in making it possible to plant new trees and do your part to enrich the Adams Morgan environment.

Here's how you can help out:
  • If you live in an apartment building, contact your property manager and request that they participate in the tree application. Send an email to adamsmorgantrees@yahoo.com and have the manager do the same. And make sure you tell them that it is totally free!

  • If you live in the Park Crescent Apartments, contact:
    Aisha Drake at adrake@cafritzcompany.com or (202) 862-6800
and also contact Pat Waddy (202) 862-6800

  • If you own a house in the area, send an email to adamsmorgantrees@yahoo.com saying you'd like to participate. Let us know how many trees you'd like and you can even pick from the list of lovely trees that can be planted. Please also contact the apartment managers listed above to encourage them to participate as well!
